FAQ
What products does Material Specialist supply?
We supply standard fasteners, threaded products, structural fasteners, construction fasteners and custom metal parts manufactured to recognized ASTM, ASME, SAE, ISO and DIN standards - or to customer drawings and specifications.
Who does Material Specialist sell to?
Material Specialist sells exclusively to qualified distributors and resellers. We do not sell directly to contractors, installers or the general public.
Do you sell directly to OEMs or end users?
No. We do not sell directly to OEMs or end users. Our role is to support our distributor customers - not compete with them for their customers.
Can you manufacture custom or special parts?
Yes. We source custom fasteners, stampings, machined parts, forgings and other metal components from customer drawings, samples or specifications. We review the material, tolerances, tooling, quantities and testing requirements before quoting.
How do you control product quality?
Our quality-control process includes inspection and testing before production begins, during manufacturing and after the product is completed. Depending on the product and specification, this may include raw-material verification, dimensional inspection, mechanical testing, coating evaluation and final pre-shipment inspection.
Is independent testing available?
Yes. Independent third-party laboratory testing can be arranged when required. Testing requirements should be identified when requesting a quotation so they can be included in the price and production schedule.
Are material certifications and test reports available?
Yes. Material certifications and manufacturer test reports can be supplied when specified at the time of quotation or order.
Can you provide PPAPs, first-article inspections or samples?
Yes. PPAP documentation, first-article inspection reports, production samples and other approval packages can be provided when included in the customer's requirements.
What finishes and coatings are available?
Available finishes include zinc plating, mechanical galvanizing, hot-dip galvanizing, zinc-flake coatings, phosphate and oil, black oxide and other commercial or specification-controlled finishes. Availability depends on the product, material and applicable standard.
What are your minimum order quantities?
Minimum quantities vary by product, manufacturing process and packaging requirements. Standard production items generally have lower minimums than custom parts requiring special tooling or setup.
What are your typical lead times?
Lead times depend on the product, quantity, manufacturing process, testing requirements and shipping method. An estimated production and delivery schedule is provided with each quotation.
Can you deliver products directly to our location?
Yes. Material Specialist can quote products on a delivered-duty-paid basis when appropriate. Other shipping terms are also available depending on the customer's purchasing and logistics requirements.
Can products be packaged under our company's name?
Yes. Custom cartons, labels, barcodes, package quantities and distributor branding can be arranged, subject to volume and setup requirements.
How do you handle a product-quality concern?
On the very rare occasion that a product-quality concern arises, we respond promptly. We review the applicable production, inspection and testing records and work with the distributor and manufacturer to determine the cause and appropriate corrective action. The affected product, packaging, labels and lot information should be retained during the investigation.
How do I request a quotation?
Send your drawing, specification, part number, material, finish, quantity, testing requirements, packaging requirements and delivery location to sales@msfastening.com. Complete information allows us to provide a faster and more accurate quotation.
